Series Futsal Victoria Women’s Team of the Week – Round 6

It was a tough round for some teams who found themselves on the wrong end of some unflattering score-lines, but there were some impressive signs from newly-formed sides Pascoe Vale and Preston. The women’s game continues to grow with teams getting numbers behind them and some stylish futsal being played.

Keeper – Charlotte Blake (FC Carlton Heart)

In what was undoubtedly the game of week, Preston pushed Carlton Heart all the way until the final whistle but were unlucky not to take anything away from the game.

Between the sticks, Blake undeniably kept the Heart girls in the game, stopping shots from all angles and distances to help stave off a persistent Preston.

With close to ten saves in the second half, Blake held it together until the last minute when cleanly hit strikes from Stacey Papadopolous and Pam Demetriou snuck past her in what was otherwise an absolutely stellar performance.

Anchor – Pam Demetriou (Preston FC)

New to Series Futsal Victoria (SFV), Demetriou has made her mark as one of the stronger players in the league.

She is a quiet achiever that finds herself in goal scoring situations as well holding her own in the back line to stop multiple attacks by Carlton Heart.

Flanker – Danica Petreska (Moreland FC)

The Moreland FC captain turned on the heat again this week, scoring three goals for her side against the newly-formed Preston United.

Petreska worked hard, getting up and down the court to support her teammates in both defence and attack.

Flanker – Daniella Galluccio (Moreland FC)

Gallucio was in top form this week against Preston United, with three goals and two assists to her name.

Galluccio played like a player that is confident in her ability, and her hard work is apparently recognised by her teammates; no wonder she is all smiles during the game.

Target – Em Coppock (Richmond FC)

For the second week in a row, Coppock leads the line in the Team of the Week.

The natural target was able to find the back of the net three times in Richmond’s eight-three win over Pascoe Vale.
